Hazard Mitigation Planning

Current CMRPC Natural Hazard Mitigation Planning Efforts

Through FEMA/MEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds, CMRPC is currently developing local hazard mitigation plan updates for the twenty-seven member towns listed below. These plans, when approved by FEMA and adopted locally, will allow these communities and their residents to more readily access hazard mitigation and disaster recovery funds from FEMA. Local plans are being developed in batches of 5 to 6 communities. As work progresses in each city or town, information (including draft plans) will be posted below.

 Hazard Mitigation Plan Public Survey

All surveys have been closed as of July 9, 2019

Thank you to all who participated in the survey

The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) through a grant from FEMA is working with your community to develop an updated Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan for your city or town. FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) provides funds to states, territories, Indian tribal governments, communities, and regional entities to help communities implement hazard mitigation measures following a Presidential major disaster declaration. The plans and the projects that result from them reduce the overall risk to residents and property and reduce the costs of disaster recovery.

As we create your community's plan, we need to hear from you. Your input will help the local planning team and CMRPC to understand the community’s concerns, and your input will help guide discussions during the plan development process.

Previous CMRPC Natural Hazard Mitigation Planning Efforts

CMRPC hosted a Regional Hazard Mitigation Planning Workshop on November 15, 2016.

Full Presentation as presented by Sarah White, Hazard Mitigation Grants Supervisor from MEMA.

Through a FEMA/MEMA Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) program grant, CMRPC completed local hazard mitigation plans for thirteen member communities in the winter of 2016-17. These plans, as approved by FEMA and adopted locally, allow these communities and their residents to more readily access hazard mitigation and disaster recovery funds from FEMA.
