Municipalities Organized For Regional Effectiveness (MORE)

planning functional area

MORE is a voluntary, member-driven, non-profit corporation comprised of communities that share geographic proximity and have an interest in addressing common issues with collective action. This program’s overriding goal is to break down the town boundary barriers and cultivate a true sense of regional collaboration in the Central Massachusetts region. MORE is funded through community investments, vendor service fees, and some initial CMRPC funding. Private sector contributions and grants will be solicited. CMRPC provides administrative support and programmatic guidance. Town Managers, Administrators, and/or Executive Secretaries represent the town membership.

The CMRPC staff has continued to support various initiatives of Municipalities Organized for Regional Effectiveness (MORE), including joint procurements. Through the Joint Purchasing program, the City of Worcester sends a list of all upcoming contract expirations to CMRPC/MORE staff on a regular basis. The staff then distributes this information to all the MORE communities with an invitation to join any of the contracts listed. The program offers CMRPC communities the opportunity to enjoy the benefits that a collaborative economy of scale may provide.

MORE and CMRPC are working in a collaborative role with other agencies to identify the hindrances to inter-municipal collaboration, and develop recommendations to eliminate those hurdles. The objective, of course, is to position all communities to establish appropriate, high value, and cost-efficient service delivery collaborations.

In March 2016, the following officers were elected:
  • Ron San Angelo (Southbridge), President,
  • Ted Kozak (Northbridge), Vice President,
