Population Projections

Currently, the Central Massachusetts Region is home to 572,655 people, 8.44% of the Massachusetts population with that number expected to reach 641,260 by the year 2040 it is important to know where those people will live and what types of services they may need. The University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute was able to use use the regional and town population projections to calculate age cohort estimates for each of the landmark years of Mobility2040.  Below are links to interactive charts that show the total populations projected for the years 2020, 2030 and 2040 and age cohort estimates for those years and excel sheets containing the data.
